Brunsmeer had the chance to restore a bit of pride after last weeks defeat as they returned to Handley Wood, this time in the league. From the very first whistle it was evident that the boys were going to give their all as they started well .The midfield trio of Joe Rowley,Nandala Muyakwa and captain James Yeardley matched a quality Handley Wood midfield in every department,Nandala hit the foot of a post on 15 minutes but just a minute later the home team took the lead as Handleys centre forward turned well and hit a great shot into the bottom corner.Unlike last week though the boys didnt let their heads drop and the back two of Ben Roberts and Hamish Partington were in outstanding form, chasing, tackling, and blocking shots and when called upon Nathan also looked in fine form. Both Jake and Corey didnt stop running up front, the whole team gave their all and they were rewarded in the very last minute.Corey forced a corner on the left which he took himself,he flighted in a perfect corner and Joe Rowley arrived right on time to firmly head past a helpless keeper,1-1 after game one,an equaliser that was well deserved after a great effort from everyone.
The second game started just as the first with Brunsmeer looking in determined mood,Owen Ryan was causing problems down the right with his skill and pace and he went close to gaining the lead on a couple of occasions,Josh and Izzy stood firm at the back ,Joe Pillinger up front also held the ball up well, playing in the midfield of James H,Ben B and Owen on many occasions, the whole shape and attitude of the boys was great to see. However with just 15 minutes remaining Handley moved up a gear and scored two goals in quick succesion, again Brunsmeer gave their all and didnt give up but a goal with just a few minutes to play finally ensured the points for the home team, final score Handley Wood 4 Brunsmeer 1 but the whole team can hold their heads high and say that they had given their all, pride restored boys Well Done.
